New Updo and Bodyart!

Today I snapped some pics of my twists in an double updo with hairsticks. Sunday, I went to an international culture festival and got my first henna tattoo. Ain't I purty?

On a lark, I decided to check my length, after feeling jaded about my perceived slow growth. Boy, shrinkage can play with my emotions! But wow, my hair is at my collarbone! I guess I am doing something right with my low-poo, shea butter, coconut oil regimen!

Extra! Extra! Roshini's back...sort of!

I am happy to report that after months of being MIA, Miss Roshini aka "ini" from the informative and funny blog, www.roshini.net, has returned. She wrote a short note, stating that "she's not dead," which has been the speculation du jour for the longest on message boards. Your inspiration and words have been missed. Glad to have you back!

Milestones and Sistagirl Shout Out

OMG! (Yeah, like so cliche!) We are homeowners!!! My baby and I recently bought a lovely little house and everyday I feel like a kid at Christmas! We have space now, a front and back yard, and now we just need time to put all of our stuff away.

I met a young sista recruiting members for the Campaign for Human Rights, and I want to shout out to the Philly native with her beautiful Sisterlocks. She told me that she was suprised that I knew what Sisterlocks were--sounds like we've still got work to do! Miss Danielle has been transitioning for a while now, with a few inches of relaxed hair left. As an OSU student, she's doing good work for herself and the community, and she's cute! I feel so proud!--Go 'head Danielle!

Here's the video, unfortunately there is no sound, but the song is by Jill Scott, "He Loves Me (Lyzel in E flat)"

Overnight Deep Conditioning Experiment

(the overnight cap and headband) Me after rinse, shake, and towel blot
Sunday night, I tried something that a lot of women swear by--overnight conditioning treatments. I used Garnier Fructis Deep Conditioner (one of my favorites!).

Here's the combout after two weeks of twists, and this is a texture profile shot (I've got more sideburns than Colonel Sanders!)
I didn't really notice any benefit to my hair. That morning, I set my hair braids after rubbing some olive and coconut oil in my hair, and wore a scarf to class.

Yesterday, I wore a braidout to school and work. I kept the front two braids because I tend to frizz out in front otherwise. Nice and cute!
Next experiment: Flat twistout! Stay tuned!

Braid Out by the Roses

Okay, I know the dress is old, but after losing 30 pounds, it was a great blast from the past!

I'm posting this picture to show me in a braid-out. My hubby took me to a beautiful park this summer and I thought a photo by the roses would be appropriate!

Welcome to the PeloSutra, your ticket to my hair (and life!) journey. I have been chemical-free since February 2003, and loving it ever since.

On this blog, I will share my experiences and resources regarding healthy, natural hair with you. I will also share healthy-living tips as I discover and evaluate them. I hope that you will share your knowledge with me, to continue the Napptural Community's growth.

My first goal is to have Napptural Living Parties in the Central Ohio area by the beginning of the new year, complete with product swaps and great food.

Ultimately, this blog is an homage to sistas like my mother, Motown Girl, and Roshini who still show us how our beautiful napps can never be too 'ruff!
